Blue sharks are an incredibly charismatic species and they play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of entire marine ecosystems. These sharks can be found just off the South West coast of Cornwall, typically during the summer.

This project, led by T-CPI community member Dr Andrea Gaion, aims to provide a starting point for a multi-year research programme which aims to establish a sophisticated photo-identification database. This will help researchers study the genetics of blue shark populations and how the bioaccumulation of common pollutants impacts living sharks.

There is so much more knowledge that can be shared when it comes to how we can better protect our natural environment. All too often we miss out on important information simply from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The Conservation Project International is about bringing together a global perspective, sharing knowledge, and making the projects that matter happen as a collective voice.
